Wrinkle reduction

What's involved?

Botulinum toxin (e.g. Botox®) is a simple, non-surgical, treatment that can temporarily smooth mild to severe frown lines between the brows, around the eyes, on the forehead and other areas. The treatment works through a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium, which reduces the activity of the muscles that cause frowns and wrinkles. A number of alternative treatments to Botulinum toxins (e.g. Botox®) are also available and the most suitable can be determined through consulting with a Dermatologist.

While treatments are now available by non-medical practitioners, a Dermatologist has a better understanding of the facial anatomy and can offer a tailored treatment rather than applying a template approach.

Botox(R) itself was not designed for cosmetic uses. We use Vistabel (the cosmetic version from the manufacturer of Botox) and Xeomin as are preferred products as we have found they deliver the best results. However, we will use alternative products if patients specifically request a brand.

How long does it take?

A typical session takes 30 minutes. You get an experienced Dermatologist administering the procedure, not a non-medical practitioner or beautician.

What is the success rate?

Within days there is, in most cases, a noticeable improvement in moderate to severe frown lines. The first treatment may only last for two months but with continued treatments it may last longer, up to 6 months in some cases.

Our experienced Dermatologist specialises in a fresher, non-frozen look so you can continue to smile and show facial expressions.

The treatment should not be undertaken by pregnant or breast-feeding women and patients with certain neurological conditions.
