    Trichology Scalp Treatments

Scalp treatments are individually prescribed to alleviate itchy, flaky and scaly scalp complaints.

    What are Trichology Scalp Treatments?

Scalp treatments are individually prescribed to alleviate itchy, flaky and scaly scalp complaints, such as psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis and pityriasis amiantacea. They provide therapeutic respite to the symptoms of these types of condition as well as improving the look and feel of your scalp.

Who would benefit from a Scalp Treatment?

Anyone that is suffering from a severe itchy, scaly, flaky scalp which they are finding difficult to manage at home.

What is involved in Trichology Scalp Treatments?

The Trichologist will lightly massage your head to stimulate blood flow to the scalp.

They will apply trichologically formulated medicated creams containing ingredients such as salicylic acid and sulphur to the scalp and hair. This acts on the flaking and scaling to help remove it.

Steam treatment loosens the scale further, provides light conditioning to the hair and infuses moisture into the hair and scalp.

The Trichologist shampoo’s the hair and scalp with a medicated shampoo.

Infra-red and/or UV light therapy is provided to help heal the skin.

Finally there is light drying of the hair.

What are the risks or potential side effects of Trichology Scalp Treatments?

Possible reaction to the products although this is highly unlikely as they are hypoallergenic.

Is there any preparation needed before having Trichology Scalp Treatments?

    No preparation is needed.

What aftercare is required for Trichology Scalp Treatments?

This really depends on the severity of your scalp condition. To ensure you maintain the benefits of the in-house treatment for as long as possible you may need to carry out some mild treatments at home with medicated shampoos and the medicated creams.

How often do I need a scalp treatment?

Again, this really depends on the severity of your condition. For thicker more adherent scaling once a week till the scalp is cleared; for milder cases once a month may be sufficient. In some instances, it may only be when you notice the flaking or scaling returning.

What is the cost of Trichology Scalp Treatments?

A scalp treatment is £60 and lasts for approximately 30-45 minutes.
