Red wine may help treat acne. Dermatology researchers from UCLA found that the antioxidant resveratrol, which can be found in grapes and wine was an effective dermatology treatment for acne when combined with benzoyl peroxide. The study found that resveratrol had a sustained antibacterial activity against acnes, and benzoyl peroxide had short-term anti-bacterial effects that could be effectively combined.
Dermatologist Dr Martin Wade said that the study could present a novel treatment option or complementary treatment for acne vulgaris.
