At The London Skin and Hair Clinic and London Real Skin, we are deeply committed to prioritizing the health and well-being of our patients, staff, and community. Nothing is more important than your health and safety, and the need to protect those most vulnerable to the coronavirus (COVID-19).
We’d like to reassure our patient’s that our clinic is open and offering existing and new patients medical dermatology appointments throughout the COVID crisis, as secure video consultations to ensure our patients are able to stay home and stay safe and avoid travel. We have worked with all UK private health insurers, including Aviva, AXA, BUPA, Cigna, Healix and WPA, who have advised they will cover remote consultation charges for their members as long as the normal preapproval process is followed. Regrettably Vitality have decided that they are not covering their members for video consultations at our clinic with our Dermatologists. Video consultations and phone consultations are charged at the same price as in-clinic appointments.
Our in-clinic dispensary continues to receive regularly deliveries from our pharmacy wholesalers, so we are fully stocked and able to post out medication and products, following video consultations, to help our patients stay at home and stay safe and avoid travel.
Skin cancer surgery during Covid
We are scheduling specific skin cancer surgery clinics and priority mole checks, on site in our Holborn clinic for specific dates during this time, for those patients who require skin cancer surgery which cannot be delayed. We have specific protocols in place for those clinics including the use of personal protective gear and avoiding travel by public transport to help protect our patients along with our Dermatologists and staff.
Clinic opening hours
As we have our team working remotely from their homes, we have focused our clinic hours to Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:30pm (excluding bank holidays) and during these times our team is available on the phone on 020 7183 4565 or by email to doctor@LSAH.co.uk
Out of hours, you can continue to book medical dermatology appointments directly with our Dermatologists from our website or clinic facebook page where we have an online booking facility. You can find that here.
As a CQC-registered hospital, The London Skin and Hair Clinic will continue to operate in line with all government directives for the independent healthcare sector regarding the COVID response.
Details on how to prepare for video consultations
We are using secure videoconferencing technology for our consultations. You will be emailed a link with your appointment confirmation that you can click on direct from the email. To ensure the most effective consultation for you, we recommend the following:
- Use Chrome as your browser software for viewing your email and opening the video link
- Test your webcam, speaker, and microphone are all working, ahead of your appointment
- Plan to use a quiet, well-lit room indoors for your video consultation, where you have a good broadband connection
Our videoconferencing software is also designed to be used on mobiles, however you will not see yourself on the mobile version, you will only see the Dermatologist.
If you are having problems using our videoconference software, it may be because your computer is blocking apps from accessing your camera and / or microphone. You can go to Chrome / Chrome Menu / Settings / Advanced / Privacy and Security / Site Settings
