Consultant Dermatologist Dr Nicola Clayton

Dr Nicola Clayton is a British trained Dermatologist who has a specialist interest in hair-loss and scalp conditions. Her Consultant NHS post is at West Middlesex University Hospital, Chelsea & Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust where she treats adults and paediatric patients with a multitude of general dermatological diseases.
Dr Nicola Clayton trained at The University of Bristol Medical School where she gained her BSc in Bioethics prior to her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. Dr Clayton transferred to London for postgraduate training primarily at University College Hospital and St Mary’s Hospital. She completed her higher speciality training in Dermatology at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Barts Health NHS Trust and The Royal Free Foundation NHS trust.

Dr Nicola Clayton sees and treats women, men and children suffering from scalp conditions and hair loss including alopecia areata, androgenetic alopecia (male pattern baldness and female hair loss), folliculitis, scalp psoriasis and scarring alopecia. Dr Clayton uses clinical hair photography for monitoring of treatment.
As a general dermatologist Dr Nicola Clayton treats a multitude of conditions including acne, eczema, psoriasis, skin cancer, hidradenitis suppurativa, cutaneous Sarcoidosis, hyperhidrosis and performs mole checks, cryotherapy, steroid injections and minor surgery.

Education and Training
Dr Clayton was awarded the British Association of Dermatologists study fellowship in 2012 which helped fund a 6 month hair fellowship at the St John’s Institute of Dermatology with Dr Catherine Stefanato with a focus on histopathology. She went on to present her work at The World Congress for Hair research 2013, London histopathology Symposium and the American Society of Dermatopathology annual meeting.
