Consultant Dermatologist Dr Rachel Healy

Dr Rachel Healy is a Surgical Dermatologist who specialises in skin cancer detection and treatment. Special interests include the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer, oral and genital skin conditions and all types of skin surgery. She is the lead clinician for skin cancer at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust, and underwent specialist training in dermatological surgery including mohs surgery, laser skin treatments and cosmetic dermatology at St John’s Institute of Dermatology.

She also has a particular interest in medical education having completed a postgraduate certificate in medical education at the Royal College of Physicians. She enjoys regularly teaching medical students, junior doctors, GPs and other health professionals.

Dermatology conditions treated include skin cancer, mole checks, sun damage, melasma, acne, rosacea, skin infections, eczema, psoriasis and lumps and bumps.

Skin surgery includes cryotherapy, diagnostic biopsies, shave biopsies, curretage and cautery, removal of cysts and lipomas, electrodessication, photodynamic treatment (PDT), simple excision, excision of lesions with flap or graft repairs.

Dr Rachel Healy is registered with the GMC and on the specialist register for Dermatology. She is a member of the British Association of Dermatologists, the British Society for Dermatological Surgeons, the Royal College of Physicians, the Royal College of Surgeons and the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology.

Education and Training

Dr Healy underwent her medical training at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals and her dermatology training at St John’s Institute of Dermatology, the Royal London Hospital and the Royal Free Hospitals. Dr Healy started her medical career as a dentist going on to work as a maxillofacial surgeon prior to studying medicine.
