Steroid injections (intralesional triamcinolone injections) are used by Dermatologists for treating a number of conditions, including alopecia areata (patches of hair-loss), keloid scars and acne cysts.

High dosage injections, repeated, may result in atrophy of the skin. For this reason injections are normally not repeated in the same area within less than 6 – 8 weeks.
